Wie schreibt man eine paranormales YA Buch in ein paar simplen Schritten. Man nehme ein Mädchen mit Superkräften, natürlich weiß sie aber nichts davon. Dann werfe man einen "heißen" Typen mit rein (sehr cool wegen seiner Jeans und dem schwarzen T-shirt, das seine Muskeln leicht zeigt). Dann nehme man noch ein klitzekleines bisschen Zickenterror und beste Freunde gemischt mit ein paar Geheimnissen. Man darf natürlich nicht vergessen eine grooooße Portion Liebe auf den ersten Blick, die null Sinn macht dazuzugeben - tadaaaa fertig ist Mindspeak =D 

Ok, leicht übertrieben, aber genau so hat es sich angefüllt. Das Buch ist voller Geheimnisse, die so langsam aufgelöst werden, das es echt nervig wird. Und das schlimmste...jeder in diesem Buch ist ein Lügner, der größte Lügner ist Jack selbst meiner Meinung nach. Und scheinbar liebt es Lexi/Sarah belogen zu werden, immerhin macht es ja jeder und sie nimmts einfach hin. Wenn ich merken würde, dass mich jeder anlügt, würde ich wahrscheinlich austicken. Aber sie gibt nur nen sarkastischen Kommentar von sich, heult n bisschen und das wars. Super Helding! Ich mag sie nicht. Sie ist ein flacher, langweiliger Charakter.

Es war echt kein Spaß das zu lesen, sondern eher wie eine Folter. Warum ich trotzdem 2 Sterne vergebe und nicht einen? Naja...offene Enden machen mich immer neugierig und gegen Ende ist endlich was passiert - etwas das ich nicht vermutet hätte. Das Buch hat eindeutig Potenzial, aber es war absolut nix für mich. Ich werde die Serie abbrechen.


How to write paranormal YA in a few simple steps. Take a girl with special powers, but of course she doesn't know about it. Throw in a "hot" dude (very cool due to his jeans and black t-shirt, which shows his muscles slightly). Then you add a teeny tiny bit of bitch fights and a best friend along with some secrets. You may not forget a biiiiig portion of love at first sight, that doesn't make any sense - tadaaaa done is Mindspeak =D
Ok, that might have been slightly exaggerated, but that is what it felt like to me. This book is full of secrets that get revealed so slowly, that it got annoying. And the worst is...everyone in this book is a liar, biggest liar is Jack himself in my opinion. And it seems that Lexi/Sarah loves being lied to, as everybody is doing it and she just takes it. If I would notice, that everyone is lying at me, I would go freaking nuts at them. But she just throws in a sarcastic comment and QQ's a bit and that is it. Way to go, heroine. I don't like her. She is a flat and dull character.
I didn't have fun reading this book, actually it was like torture. Why 2 stars then and not 1? Well...open endings get me curious and towards the end stuff happened that I did not expect at all. The book has potential, but it just wasn't my thing. I don't think I will follow the whole series. For now I got enough.

Der Grund, warum ich es mir geholt habe war das es kostenlos war und dieses traumhaft schöne Cover hatte. Die Augen sind einfach der Hammer!

Oh wow, das war anstrengend.
Ich hab mich so darauf gefreut, das Buch zu lesen, ich konnte kaum mehr warten anzufangen. Und dann hab ich angefangen und habe einen ganzen Monat dafür gebraucht. Dieses Buch zieht sich sehr am Anfang. Nichts passiert...naja es passiert natürlich schon was, aber nichts interessantes! Und dann sieht man diese furchteinflößende Assasine von Adaraln als ein kleines hübsches Mädchen, dass nen Fetisch für hübsche Kleidchen hat. WIRKLICH?! D: Ein Mörder mit Klamottensucht? Naja, ganz so schlimm wars nicht, aber auf mich hat sie dadurch nicht gerade furchteinflößend gewirkt. Bis zum späteren Verlauf, dann war sie richtig hart! Ich wollte einfach keine mädchenhafte Heldin, ich wollte eine krasse, starke eventuell brutale Protagonistin, so wie sie auf dem Cover dargestellt wird. Zwei Schwerter in der Hand und ein tötender Blick. Aber diese Seite bekam man leider nur selten zu sehen.
Ca. nach der Hälfte ging es endlich rund und es wurde viel interessanter. Zum Glück hab ich mich gezwungen weiter zu lesen. Ich war ja schon nahe dran aufzuhören - aber das Ende hat es dann wieder rausgerissen. Das letzte Viertel war so spannend, Magie, Kämpfe, Action (man ignoriere das Liebesdreieck, das hat mich null interessiert XD) und Dämonen und OMG! Ja...das Ende war wirklich klasse. Und genau aus diesem kleinen Grund habe ich mir Buch zwei bestellt. Nachdem ich auch ein paar Bewertungen angesehen habe, denke ich das Buch 2 viel besser wird als das vergeudete Potenzial von Buch 1.
2.5 Sterne von mir - nur wegen dem guten Ende.



Oh wow, this was tough.
I was so happy to start reading this, I couldn't wait any longer. And then I started and needed a whole month to get through with this. Really this book is very slow going at first. Nothing happens...well some things happen, but nothing interesting happens. And then the fearful assassin of Adarlan is shown as the pretty lil girly that loves to dress up. SERIOUSLY? D: A killer with a clothes fetish? Well it wasn't that bad, but to me she didn't seem like someone you should fear. Until later in the book that is. I didn't want the girly type of heroine, I wanted the badass looking one that was on the cover of my edition. Wielding two swords and killing you with her ice eyes. But she was only seen rarely - unfortunately.
Around halfway through it finally picked up speed and I got more interested. Luckily I forced myself through. I was this close to abandon it - but the ending made up for it. The last quarter got really cool. Magics happening, fights happening, action, (ignore the love triangle at this part, wasn't interesting xD), and demons and and omigosh! Yeah I loved how it turned out towards the end. And only because of that tiny reason I ordered book two. And now that i checked up some rating, I think book two will make up for the wasted potential in book one.
2.5 stars from me - only because it got better in the end.

Das Cover der Edition, das ich gewählt habe finde ich Hammer! Die Zeichnung von Celaena ist atemberaubend und wirkt wirklich wie ein Assassin wirken sollte. Allen wegen des Covers habe ich es als Paperback gekauft, das gehört einfach ins Regal und nicht auf den Kindle!

Atticus O'Sullivan - oder eher gesagt der Eiserne Druide mit dem Namen, den ich leider nicht aussprechen konnte, ist ein Kerl, der 21 Jahrhunderte alt ist, also schon seit einer langen Zeit unter den Menschen lebt und sich an die Zeitveränderungen relativ gut anpasst. Man darf natürlich nicht vergessen, dass er wie ein 21 jähriger Irischer Junge aussieht - dank den paar Druidentricks die der gute Atticus im Ärmel hat. Er hat einen Okultshop, wo er spezielle Tees, die er selber braut, verkauft. Er hat einen Hund, dem er seine Sprache beigebracht hat, damit er mit ihm über eine Art Telepathie sprechen kann und er hat noch dazu dieses riesig große Schwert mit Namen "Fragarach" (schneidet durch Rüstungen, wie durch Butter) von einem keltischen Gott gestohlen. Also ein ganz normaler amerikanischer - sorry, irischer Kerl in Amerika.
Ich dachte eigentlich, das wäre gutes Futter für eine relativ coole Geschichte. Leider war es echt anstrengend, das Buch fertig zu lesen. Vor allem das erste Drittel. Er trifft mehrere Götter, ein paar Hexen, seine Anwälte, die eigentlich ganz cool sind und er wird immer wieder gewarnt und versucht aus ein paar Schwierigkeiten rauszukommen, die wegen einem gewissen wütenden keltischen Gott aufgetaucht sind. Aber dann, glücklicherweise, wurde das Buch besser. Das Ende kam mit gut aufgebauter Spannung und großer Erwartung, war dann aber sehr schnell auch wieder vorbei. Was ich jedoch diesen laaaaaaaaaaangen laaaaaaaaaaaangen Finalen bevorzuge.
Vielleicht waren meine Erwartungen zu hoch, weil ich schon gute 2 Jahre lang auf dieses Buch gewartet habe. Ich hab es nie gekauft und nun, wo ich es endlich lesen konnte war ich wohl zu begeistert. "Auja, darauf freu ich mich, das wird hammer!" - genau das hat wohl zu meiner Enttäuschung am Anfang des Buches geführt (mit ein paar sehr sexistischen Anmerkungen in Kombination). Zum Glück wurde es ja besser, und irgendwie mochte ich Atticus. Er hat diesen leicht paranoiden, sehr männlichen Humor. Kein typisches Blümchen Märchen Einhorn Mädchen Buch - definitiv eher auf männliche Leser ausgerichtet.


Atticus O'Sullivan - or rather the iron druid with the name I unfortunately was not able to pronounce is a guy that is 21 centuries old, has lived among the humans for a very long time in other words and adapts himself to the changing times rather well. Not to forget that he just looks like a 21 year old Irish boy, thanks to some secrets that he has up his sleeve. He's running a kind of an occult store where he sells special teas, that he brews himself, has a dog that he taught his language so he could mentally talk to him and he also stole a bigass sword called Fragarach (it cuts through armor like a knife through butter) from an old celtic god. Just the average American - sorry, Irish guy in America. I thought this makes for a pretty damn cool story.
However, I had a hard time to get into the book. The first third was tough to read. He meets several gods, some witches, his lawyers, who are quite cool actually and is just getting warned and trying to get out of some real life trouble that happend due to a certain angry celtic god. But then, luckily, the book changed. To the better. I started to like it and read the rest rather quick. The ending was built up nicely, tension rising and the anticipation along with it and then it was over rather quick. Which I prefer over those loooong loooooong many many pages battles for example.
Maybe my expectations were a bit too high, because I have been delaying this book or around 2 years. Never bought it and now I finally did. And then I was like "Oh yeah, I will enjoy this!" - I guess this was reason for my slight disappointment in the beginning. But as I said, this changed after a while. What might have persuaded me to read on was the fact, that Atticus had this nice, yet a bit paranoid, male humor attitude. It wasn't a typical girls book with lovey dovey flower poop all around the world. I think this might be directed more towards the male readers.

Ich liebe es! Es hat damals meine Aufmerksamkeit gewonnen - der Kerl war zu interessant, um ihn zu ignorieren und dann noch dieses Schwert und...ja, das musste einfach gelesen werden!

Und noch ein Schinken beendet. Viel ist in diesem Buch passiert, ber gleichzeitig ist gar nichts passiert. Die erste Hälfte habe ich relativ schnell gelesen, wenn man bedenkt, wie viele Seiten dieses Buch hat. Aber dann wurde es anstrengend. Noch so viele Seiten übrig und alles war nur voll von Diskussionen, Diskussionen und Diskussionen. Der Schreibstil war wie in den ganzen vorherigen Büchern passend für diese Art von Fantasy Geschichte. Aber diese Buch hatte einfach zu wenig Action für mich - verglichen mit dem vorherigen Buch, wo es ja richtig zur Sache ging. Allerdings war dieser Band gegen Ende, in den letzten Kapiteln um genau zu sein, sehr spannend. Insgesamt gebe ich 3.5 Sterne, weil es dennoch eine gute Unterhaltung war und ich denke bzw. hoffe, dass die Information, die wir in diesem Band so ausführlich eingeflößt bekamen in Zukunft wichtig sein wird. Ich habe den nächsten Band bereits zu Hause, aber ich brauche eine Pause - es ist immer sehr anstrengend Game of Thrones zu lesen.

Nicht viel dazu zu sagen. Es passt zu Game of Thrones, ist aber nichts ausergewöhnliches. Mir gefallen die deutschen Cover teilweise besser.
